|
|
Hello,
The backlight stopped working on an HDR-SR11, and I am trying to repair it. I have replaced the backlight, but this has not repaired the problem. I suspect Mounted C.board Fp-454 as (part # A-1239-344-A) us the issue, but I am having trouble understanding what this part does - it appears to connect to nothing into the LCD assembly, the IC just being tucked away. I cannot tell for sure. So it may be broken and not making connection, but it does not appear to go anywhere.
If anyone can provide some assistance I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
Here is the part #.

Enzeno,
Do you have any schematic of the unit? No doubt it is easier to replace "parts" but it may or may not fix the problem. There are apparently a lot of different versions available for the model but it is probably very similar in the LCD section.
In looking at a diagram, it appears that you have a LED backlight and it may be several things. As far as the connector board FP454, it is only a connection for GND, 28 V & has a Hall effect IC that is designed to sense the position of the panel. Based on the schematic, I do not see how it could possibly affect the LED operation?---either way, if needed, you could monitor a voltage toggle at pin 4 as you move the camera.
Go to our friend's Hungarian site, Elektrotanya.com and get a service manual and look very close at the circuits & verify it with what you have. Here are a few snapshots of the ckt;

Hi Vtech,
Thanks very much for your reply. Based on what you stated, I think I can rule out FP454, because when I open the LCD, I can tell that the screen comes on(LCD is powered and viewable with a bright bright light), but the backlight simply does not light.
I am going to sift through some things on that site and see if I can come up with some other ideas.

It is best to get a meter and do some voltage checks to see where/what is missing. Always start with block diagram and work your way up. I'd have to say that it is rather surprising to be able to see so much detail since they usually do not reveal much in schematics nowadays.
Good luck and post back your findings
