Sony DAV S550 All-in-One DVD - Noisy Drive

This is an old all-in-one home cinema DVD system with a slot loading drive. Disc loading is controlled by three gears. Two that grab the disc edge & draw it in & one to stop the disc when fully loaded. They then rotate away from the disc edge to allow it to spin up.

I have one where the three gears oscillate after moving away causing a constant tick while the disc is playing. Any pointers to a resolution gratefully received as although old now, it otherwise works perfectly.
