25 year old Sony ES ...X339ES, CD player has an issue

I purchased it new in 86 and does not have many hours on it. For the last few years it would not want to play certain CD's. No disc will be displayed on the panel. Over the past few months it's dislike for certain CD's has greatly multiplied so that most of my will not work ! Could this be regulated by an adjustment ?
