Is it D940?

I have a D940 that doesn't light up. The other 4 green and 1 red do light up then go out. Nothing APPEARS defective, and I hesitate to pull any components to test unnecessarily. What next, PLEASE and THANK YOU![/i]

CORRECTION - that is D340, not D940. C707 looks fine.

D940 is your B+, or the +120 volt line. The responsibility of I901 is to maintain an accurate Deflection B+ during set operation. I need to know if E994 is open or if it's good.

Please note correction--it is D340 not D940.

Thank you so much!!!!!! I had the same problem as you and thought I was going to have to trash my tv. But for $12.00, why not give it a shot. (I have no experience at all with electronics) I ordered the parts (C707, E944) went to Radio Shack and bought a cheap soldering iron and what do you know, 1/2 hour later the tv is working like new!!!!!
Thank you so much for your help. Minnie, you rock!!!!!

Minnie,

Read the posts about replacing C707 & E994. My TV has the same symptoms as others - and C707 has a black spot on it. A TV tech came out and confirmed that these two parts need to be replaced, but also says I need a new transformer. It is a part that has three red wires coming out of the top, one red lead to each projection gun. He made this determination after just looking at the lights on the circuit board. The part is $147.70. No one else with this problem said anything about replacing this part. What do you think? Are they running up the bill?
Thank you for your opinion

Bull shit. Order the parts, the cap and pico fuse, put them in and go from there. It may, but doubt it. Damn tv repair people! Rolling Eyes
