Convergence chips can stk392-020,s replace STK392-040,s

Hi, I'm new here and have a question. I have 2 new STK392-020 and a panasonic With STK392-040,s in it. I've determined that the the problem is definately on the convergence board by removing the output plugs. (the TV now works) Now the STK392-040,s are a replacement for the later but are they just an upgrade and the STK392-020,s will work??????

STK392-020 is a lower wattage. Usually 040's replace 020's. They may not work or may fry.
