Auto Detect Problem, Satellite LNB

Hi All

I have a Hughes satellite receiver from Direct TV. What causes the auto-detect function to fail after connecting the LNB to the receiver?

It's the oval dish model with three LNB with integrated multiswitch.

The DC feed along cable is up to where it should be. Have tried receiver cold boot also.

I looked for answer on the Direct TV tech forum, but nobody on there is at all technically inclined.
