Toshiba TP55H60 with no picture or sound.

I read a post in here (but can't find it again now) that said to unplug the protect connector, I unplugged the 10 pin connector and when I put power to the tv it came up with a purple screen and then it smelled like something was frying so I unplugged the power and plugged the 10 pin connector back in but it still has no picture or sound and just a blinking red light. I don't know anything about repairing tv's but would love to fix this myself so any help would be great.
