Have you found a service manual yet? I am looking for the same thing. I purchased my Pioneer VSX-D2S new in 94 and it has just finally failed on me. it is a great unit that I would rather repair than toss it out. Pioneer made an Elite version that is identical internallay is the VSX-97. The number you provided is definetely a good one.
