I have an auto range, but more important that you get switched onto the correct Function (DC Volts, Ohms, etc.). You can try to measure Ohms on the DC Volt function no harm/no foul, but if you try to measure DC Volts with meter set for Ohms, there could be a unplanned release of the Magic Smoke.

On the other hand, if you are on the correct Function and are off by a range or two, it will only affect the decimal point.

Thanks for that, is it safe to test the 12v and 35v circuits with a multimeter? Im not going to get electrocuted from it am I?

You should be fine. Just don't slip or otherwise connect two points together that don't belong together.

Most dangerous area for voltages in that unit is going to be where the Mains / AC is connected.

Ok so

Pin 1- 0volts

Pin 7-34.7v
pin 8-34.7v
pin 9-34.7v

This is with the D31 diode disconnected, with it connected the system does not start just get a flickering of the standby light.

And ...

12 volts present or not on pin 1?

along with

34.5 volts present or not at pins 7 through 9?

With all connected except D31 diode i get

Pin 1- 0volts

Pin 7-34.7v
pin 8-34.7v
pin 9-34.7v

That is only for a short time until it says protect on the screen and shuts down, with the amp PCB disconnected totally it will still read the same figures but doesn't show protect and shut off just keeps running.

Also another thing I noticed when it is running something on the power pcb is making a small Hissing/buzzing noise, I don't know if its anything kind of sounds like its coming from the transformers but can't be sure.

I'm looking to see if you HAVE or DON'T HAVE 12 volts DC at Pin #1 of J3 (or pin #9 of CN2 at the SMPS)(There should be a jumper cable running from the AMP board to the SMPS board (at the Amp board it is called J3 ... at the SMPS board it is called CN2).
And also 34.5 volts DC on Pin #7 (or Pin #8 or pin #9) of J3 (or Pin# 1, 2 or 3 of CN2) ... Oh, and just for the sake of completeness, let's see if there is NEGATIVE 12 volts DC (-12V) on pin # 3 of J3 (or pin #7 of CN2)

WITH EVERYTHING INCLUDING D31 Connected & installed.

I'm NOT asking you to describe what the unit tries or doesn't try to do (unless with that D31 connected something starts to smoke).

With D31 conected and installed there is no power at

pin1 - no power

pin 7,8,9 also no power
(the machine wont power up with d31 connected.

With D31 disconnected and everything else connected it will give me

Pin 1 will read 12V

Pin 7 will read 34.7v
Pin 8 will read 34.7v
Pin 9 will read 34.7v

This is only for a short time until the unit displays protect and shuts off again.

I will measure for the -12v when i get back home again.

All these were measured off the CN2 on the SMPS board.
