sony DVD Recorder locking up on channel five

Hi if any body has a Sony DVD Recorder with a DVB tuner fitted be aware;during the update for EPG the unit will "lock up" looking for a channel five EPG update but since five does not carry any info the unit will lock up and stay on channel five looking for a update Its a software error I was advised by SONY technical and there is no software update to stop this happening the only way to stop it is to switch of the auto-update of EPG

Yes I could have mention the model number But it applies to all SONY DVD with a DVB tuner in,that is more than 2 years old
Mine was a RDRGXD500 which according to Sony uses the same or nearly the same software and they all can lock up
