HK avr 225 receiver front display not working

i was using the harmon kardon avr 225 receiver and the front panel went out. Radio does not come on, and there seems to be no activity, other than the power light comes on, standby works, and I can see the outside front panel that shows prologic, vd1, surround sound choices Can you help with potential problems the speakers made a loud pop noise when it went out i have already checked the fuses

Sounds like you lost an output transister or two. System is in protect until the fault is repaired.

Someone on fixya said that one of the power transformers probaly went bad which of the two do you think is more likely?
