Hello. I blew something on my home stereo receiver my crossing pos & neg spk wire in my whole house audio system. I do not have a schematic nor can I find one. The main 6.3 fuse blew, I replaced with 6.3 slo-blo like a dummie. This time I heard a snap and saw tiny flash through top panel near the rear, inside of unit. I have not visually found anything yet. Unit powers up, but almost immediately, get a message on front..PROTECTION.
I read where this may be an output capacitor, but have no idea where this would be located, or how to figure out, other than the area where I saw the tiny flash and to do a better visual inspection. I have a fluke and am able to make these type repairs, just unsure where to start.
Any help would be appreciated. Thx, Greg |

I may do this, but was fishing out to see if someone may know where to go with this. I might ebay a D711 unit for around $30.
Thank you though for pointing this out. |

did another intense visual and found nothing. since i had seen an actual ark and spark through the top vent grill, when this happened, the unit is now in the trash. i have read where the sony's have an inherent issues with the "protection" logic. I'll replace this with something other than sony. |
