|
|
DrDave needs Help!
Purchased about a month ago a new Panasonic (TC-50PS14) Plasma.
Turned TV on today to watch some football an discovered a very thin black Horz. line about 6 inches from bottom of the display.
Is this a common display or display driver problem? Any way to reset this set or is it time to call for warranty service?
Anyone with info on this type of failure or a fix would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance |

Get it looked at by the shop you bought it from
1 month new and already faulty.
Should have at least 1 to 2 years warranty on it. |

Called for service. They had me do reset, etc. Line was still there.Panasonic set up a service call for this Wednesday.Turned set off left the house for a couple of hours.Came home turned it back on No line. The problem hasn't come back as yet and must be intermittent.
The question is if the line doesn't come back before Wednesday should I still let them come out?or cancel and have them save the trouble report. |

You don't want to have a repeat performance when the warranty runs out, better to follow the good advice others have posted...
... simply tell them the fault is intermittent.... it comes and goes as of it wants, I have seen this fault in Plasma and LCD displays, it could be something serious like a chip faulty or a badly fitted ribbon cable, if it's new you don't wanna be waiting till the warranty runs out and wait of them telling you, "you want a new display mate" - they don't come cheap.

A vertical line is the bottom buffer board. The tech will probably disconnect the ribbon cable and clean the contacts. This may or may not fix it. |

Update on the thin black line.
Panasonic service replaced a board even though the set was working just fine when he was here. He did say they will replace the set if the problem comes back. I give Panasonic High marks for the quality of service they provided . |
