12-01-2008Speaker set upI have some spare speakers from a tv i set up with a surround sound. The speakers accept regular speaker wire while what i'm trying to connect them to accepts your average av audio (red and white) cords. Is there anyway to accomplish this?

13-01-2008There is no reliable way to test a capristor. Just about all you can do is to measure it's resistance with an ohmeter. It is nothing but a high value resistor in parallel with a cap etched in a package. The only ones I ever saw was mainly used as an isola

13-01-2008CapristorThanks I will give it a try. The capristor is in a Hitachi TV power area (AP52)I could not get a meter reading, once unsoldered I was able to get a resistance reading. There is a second one in circuit and it seems to be okay.

13-01-2008Not familiar with the unit, but i'd suspect speaker may hve been damaged? You can always try to get another speaker just for test however, I'd suggest not getting inside of a tube circuitry unless you have some technical background.---shock hazard
